In this reading handout and the next we will be making extensive use of the ABC-CLIO database United States at War.  I will not list many articles from this database in the "suggested readings" because, well, there are just so many.  Put it this way: you can pretty safely assume that there is an article in the United States at War on just about any general or battle or other major subject that you can think of relating to military aspects of the Civil War.  I often still use articles on Civil War subjects from sources other than the United States at War, usually the article from the other database is shorter and/or more broadly focused.
