The Palestinian SpecAg will be representing members of the political party
Fatah, the largest faction of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO),
the group that is directly involved in the peace talks with Israel. Fatah,
unlike Hamas, is not recognized as a terrorist group (as of 1993 and
the signing of the
Declaration of
Principles with Israel). The current leader of Fatah and
Palestinian president is Mahmoud Abbas. The six “core” issues that need to
be resolved, decided recently, are the city of Jerusalem,
refugees,
settlements,
security,
borders,
and
water.
