UN Committee Speaks on the Kurdish Issue  (10/30/07)

NORFOLK, Va. (BNN) -

Resolution 2.1

Sponsors: Iraq, Iran, DRC, USA, Germany

Signatories: Syria, UK, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine, Kyrgystan, Turkey

Alarmed by the atrocities committed against the Kurds,

Disgusted at terrorist acts committed by the Kurds,

Having examined the Kurdish regions in many countries,

Noting that many Kurdish regions are prospering

The GA

1. Applauds the existence of semi-autonomous Kurdish regions,
2. Pressure nations with a Kurdish population to ease immigration restrictions on the Kurds,
3. Opposes acts of terrorism either against the Kurds or for the creation of an independent Kurdistan,
4. Reprimands racial violence against the Kurds,
5. Recommends that the Kurds be left as is,
6. Condemns government oppression of their Kurdish population, and
7. Notes that the problem of violence among the Kurds and against them will not be fully resolved until the problem of violence in the Middle East is resolved.
